The national Department of Social Development and Soul City will launch the Kwanda project, the first community makeover television show, in Johannesburg on 25 August 2009. The project is a partnership between government and communities. It is a developmental reality television show which seeks to address some of the biggest challenges including crime, alcohol abuse, poverty and the scourge of HIV and AIDS in the country.
Hundreds of volunteers all over South Africa have been filmed working on this community project which is to be broadcast on SABC 1 from Wednesday, 2 September 2009.
