Sixth Auxiliary Nurses’ Certificate Award Ceremony

The Limpopo Department of Health and Social Development will this week admit 234 auxiliary nurses and 347 enrolled nurses into its ranks. The 234 nurses were selected during the auxiliary nurse training as part of the poverty alleviation programme. The programme started in August 2003 with 152 students.

To date, 1 980 auxiliary nurses have been trained. The programme continues to alleviate poverty in many families in our communities. On Friday, the department will award 234 auxiliary nurses and 347 enrolled nurses who have satisfied the South African Nursing Council requirements for auxiliary nurses and enrolled nurses.

The following hospital nursing schools are utilised in the training of the students: Sekororo, Dr M Mphahlele, WF Knobel, Kgapane, Elim, Malamulele, Dilokong, Voortrekker, George Masebe, FH Odendaal, Warmbath, Jane Furse, Siloam, Mokopane and Tshilidzini.

The award ceremony will be held at the Phoskor Community Centre in Phalaborwa, Mopani District on Friday, 5 March 2010.
