Signing of Programme of Cooperation between South Africa and Spain

Minister Paul Mashatile of South Africa and Ambassador Benavides Orgaz of Spain will sign a Programme of Cooperation (POC) to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Spain in the fields of arts and culture for the years 2012 to 2015.

The POC covers areas in the Archive, Culture and Heraldry spheres. Minister of Arts and Culture Paul Mashatile and the Spanish Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary Mr P Benavides Orgaz will sign the POC.

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) signed an agreement with Spain in February 2004 during the First Session of the South African/Spanish Annual Consultations. This paved a way for bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Since the signing of the Agreement in 2008, the DAC participated in the EXPO Zaragoza 2008, which took place for a period of four months. The DAC’s participation focused on a craft exhibition and markets and song and dance.

To this end the Minister Paul Mashatile hereby invites members of the Media to a signing ceremony to concretise the POC.

The signing ceremony will be held as follows.
