Shongwe to launch 10 Junior Traffic Training Centres

Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe will hand over 10 Junior Traffic Training Centres (JTTC) to schools in the Gert Sibande Region.

The function that will place as follows:

Eskom, which is a key stakeholder for the department, have constructed 10 JTTCs as part of its public safety initiatives and schools are targeted because of high volume of trucks which transport coal in Gert Sibande, the coal transporting trucks pose huge danger to the pedestrians, hence the education at school level

The centres are expected to enhance learners’ awareness on safe road usage and to give them practical experience as the centres will have miniature vehicles.

The basic layout at the centres conforms to the requirements of the National Road Safety Council and Mpumalanga Provincial Road Safety Education Manual for Practical Training on the Junior Traffic Training Centres.

The initiative is expected to assist in promoting safe driving habits and ultimately reduce road accidents in the province.
