Shongwe to donate school uniform

The public private partnership (PPP) seems to be bearing fruits as one of the renowned clothing store PEP has offered R15 000 worth of school uniform to Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe to donate to needy learners.

MEC Shongwe will on Friday, 11 February 2011, donate the uniforms to 60 needy learners in two schools to assist their parents meet the school demands.

MEC Shongwe says the donation will promote a good relationship between the communities and his department.

β€œIt becomes even easier for our department to preach the message of school safety because we are not only shouting fear for crime on their ears, but we are humane enough to get donations for them,” says MEC Shongwe.

The 30 male learners will each get grey trousers, white shirts and green jerseys with white stripe around the neck and black shoes. Female learners will be given green skirt, white shirts and green jerseys with black shoes too.

The MEC will be accompanied by Mr Justice Maligudu of PEP Stores who said Vodacom also contributed simple school bags.
