Sexwale launches a R75 million social housing development in Cape Town

Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale will launch an innovative new social housing project in Brooklyn, Cape Town on Thursday, 24 March 2011.

The Drommedaris Brooklyn Social Housing project, located in the Koeberg Road has been specifically designed to take advantage of the proposed Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) routes of the City of Cape Town.

The development consists of 219 social rental units which provide well located, affordable rental accommodation to the economically disadvantaged, including special needs tenants like the elderly and disabled.

The project is within close proximity to health care, social and educational facilities.

The development is a result of partnership between the National Department of Human Settlements, the Western Cape Department of Local Government and Housing, the City of Cape Town and Communicare.
