Service delivery takes centre stage as the Gauteng government unveils its local government turnaround strategy

In an effort to accelerate municipal service delivery, Gauteng MEC for Local Government and Housing, Kgaogelo Lekgoro, will tomorrow unveil the Gauteng municipal turnaround strategy.

The event is expected to be attended by all the mayors and mayoral committee members from all 14 municipalities of the province. It will also be attended by the officials of the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs department, municipal managers and other executive directors of municipalities.

The aim of the turnaround strategy is to:

* restore the confidence of the people in municipalities, as the primary delivery machinery for the developmental state at a local level and
* re-build and improve the basic requirements for a functional, responsive, accountable, effective, and efficient developmental local government.
