Select Committee on Land and Environment Affairs assesses progress on rural project in Limpopo

The Select Committee on Land and Environment Affairs will embark on an oversight visit to Muyexe Village (in Limpopo) to assess progress made by government in implementing the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP).

The CRDP pilot project, launched by President Jacob Zuma in August 2009, is intended to facilitate development to address specific and prioritised needs of rural communities, ranging from running clean water to proper sanitation and enterprise development support.

The committee will also investigate reports of inadequate progress in the implementation of the programme in Muyexe.
