See larger than life costumes in the making

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation cordially invite media to the tour of the Gauteng Carnival costume creation base camp on 1 June 2010.

The gigantic costumes some over six meters high will parade through the streets of Soweto during the 6th Annual Gauteng Pale Ya Rona Carnival on 5 June. The carnival will be led by among others the Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and the MEC for Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation Ms Nelisiwe Moerane.

Come behind the scenes and meet the artists and production team of some of the largest and enthralling costumes to parade through the streets of Soweto.

The details are as follows

Programme:
* 9h00: Arrival at Newtown next to Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) offices 1 Central place corner Jeppe and Henry Nxumalo Streets Newtown
* 9h20: Departure to Norwood Base Camp
* 10h00: Tour of the camp
* 11h15: Return to Newtown
