The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Derek Hanekom will deliver a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the SciFest Africa science festival on Friday, 26 March 2010 at the Guy Butler Theatre in Grahamstown
Coordinated by the Grahamstown Foundation, SciFest Africa is an annual, national science festival that seeks to promote a culture of science and technology in a festive way. Activities planned for have been organised with the intention of addressing misconceptions and creating a new mindset about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The approach adopted by SciFest Africa is seen as another way of making STEM accessible and interesting to the learners. Fun-filled lectures, workshops, exhibitions and competitions are some of the activities that learners have come to expect and enjoy from this event.
