As part of mobilising for effective learning, the Gauteng Community Safety MEC, Khabisi Mosunkutu, will visit three schools in Midrand tomorrow.
Addressing learners at the Ebony Park Primary School, Ponelopele Primary School and Ivory Park Secondary School, MEC Mosunkutu is expected to announce measures that the provincial government intends implementing to encourage effective learning. The Department of Community Safety is working hand in glove with the Department of Education in rolling out project Hlayiseka programme in drafting and implementing safety plans for schools. For this year 360 new schools will be trained on bullying, drugs abuse, discipline and sexual abuse. The target for 2010 is 21 000 learners.
The programme for the day will end with an education izimbizo at Lord Khanyile Hall where communities will engage the Premier of Gauteng and MECs on the challenges facing schools.
