School principals to graduate in school management

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) and the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) will host a graduation ceremony for almost 1 600 school principals and managers who underwent an Advance Certificate in Education (ACE) course.

The ACE qualification is designed to empower and develop school managers with the knowledge and skills to manage and lead a school effectively. Certificates will be presented to 357 principals, 243 deputy principals and 1 259 heads of department.

All participants have implemented a project at their schools aimed at improved learner attainment which is presented to a panel of experts at the culmination of the training.

The development of skills receives high priority with all participants completing basic computer literacy, mentoring and coaching, as well as school management and leadership. An integral part of the qualification is networking and collaboration.

ACE is a two year qualification registered with the Higher Qualification Council (HEQC) as well as with the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA).
