Anglo Platinum will as part of supporting road safety education hand over scholar patrol equipment to schools that constitute the first phase of the Community Safety programme.
The handover function to be hosted in partnership with the North West Departments of Public Safety and Education is scheduled to be held as follows:

A May 2009 reconnaissance survey conducted in affected and interested communities which are within 50 kilometres of Anglo Platinum operations had identified safety of learners at pedestrian crossings as a major safety issue.
Anglo Platinum had also sponsored the Department of Public Safety with road safety promotion material to the value of R95 000 during the Arrive Alive Festive Season campaign. The campaign realised a 9.2 percent decrease road fatalities.
