SALSA development seminar press briefing

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature proudly hosts the Secretaries Association of South African Legislatures (SALSA) fourth Development Seminar. On 2 to 5 October 2012, officials of parliament and Provincial Legislatures shall attend this biennial SALSA Annual General Meeting and Development Seminar to be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in East London. 

More than 300 delegates representing South African Legislatures and officials from a number of African states and international Parliamentary bodies shall attend the Seminar. 

Each Legislature shall be represented by approximately 30 delegates to discuss the role of the Parliament and Legislatures in a democratic development state. 

Prominent speakers to address the seminar include: 

  • Minister in the Presidency, Hon Collins Chabane.
  • Deputy Minister for Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs, Hon Yunus Carrim.
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Director of Democratic Governance, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi
