The Department of Environmental Affairs invites media to the arrival function of the SA Agulhas, South Africa’s polar research and supply vessel.
The SA Agulhas is returning tomorrow, Friday 18 May 2012, from Marion Island on its final research and supply voyage before it is decommissioned as a polar and supply vessel.
The SA Agulhas has over the last 34 years covered about 1.5 million km and 159 voyages.
All 18 members of the Marion Island over-wintering team will be present for interviews and picture opportunities.
For the next two weeks, the new SA Agulhas II will be docked at Jetty II, (opposite the Table Bay Hotel)
