Rustenburg Community Development Workers (CDW)’s to be empowered on Housing consumer issues

Community Development Workers (CDW’s) and municipal housing officials, are to be empowered on interpretation of the housing code, criterion and available housing options for beneficiaries at a two-day housing consumer education workshop. The session will commence from Thursday, 22 September 2011, at Orion Hotel in Rustenburg, North West Province.

The Provincial Department of Human Settlements, Public Safety, and Liaison in partnership with the National Department of Human Settlements will conduct the empowerment workshop aimed at building capacity of CDW’s and officials from Rustenburg Local Municipality as housing ambassadors to their respective communities.

The interactive session will also shed light on roles of CDW’s in resolving problems in housing projects within their areas.

The Provincial department will end the workshop with an outreach campaign to educate housing beneficiaries within the jurisdiction of Moses Kotane Local Municipality, of their rights and responsibilities in housing, including aftercare and various other housing related matters. The comprehensive community consumer education will hold on Saturday, 24 September 2011 in the Moses Kotane area.

The housing consumer education campaign prepares beneficiaries to make informed choices and manage their roles and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
