Report on public hearings on male initiation schools in South Africa

As a prelude to the official launch, the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) is hosting a Seminar on the Report on Public Hearings on Male Initiation Schools in South Africa, 2010.

Aside from the CRL Rights Commission’s attempt to fulfill its mandate-through this report, the report itself is a valuable and comprehensive document that confers, highlights the major challenges facing the initiation practice in South Africa, and thus uncovers significant recommendations that could bring about viable solutions to the problem. More importantly, the report is, among others, intended to instigate a national debate in relation to South Africa’s vision for the future in dealing with the initiation problem.

The Seminar is scheduled to take place in Rosebank, CRL Boardroom, and is strategically taking place during the Youth Month. As this is an issue of national interest, your support in covering this newsworthy item will add much more value to our society.
