Report back to Scopa on developments in the management of Third Party Funds

The Director-General of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Ms Nonkuleko Sindane, will brief the media on the progress made in the management of Third Party Funds (TPF).

TPF, commonly known as Monies in Trust, is the collection and management of maintenance monies received on behalf of beneficiaries, court fines, bail and all other monies paid into the 474 courts and 11 state attorney offices across the country. The department manages annual receipts of approxametly R3 billion, the majority of which are monthly maintenance payments to 250 000 beneficairies.

The management of the Third Party Funds has been the focus of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) over the last two years. In addressing Scopa concerns, the department introduced effeciency measures.

In response to commitments made to parliament and oversight authorities the department will brief Scopa on proress made in the management of TPF. Following the briefing members of the media will be given an opportunity to engage the Director-General on the management of the R3 billion worth Trust Account.
