North West Department of Health and Social Development has allocated over R2,2 million to non-governmental organisations providing social services at the Kgakala One Stop Centre to officially open on Monday, 7 December 2009 by MEC Rebecca Kasienyane.
The centre will be shared amongst four NGOs that will provide counselling services to the victims of crime, abuse and violence, day care centre for people with disabilities, serve as drop in centre for orphans and vulnerable children. The one stop centre is based in Kgakala Township, Leeudoringstad and was donated by Suid Wes Cooperation in 2004 with the aim of utilising it for social welfare services particularly for the victims of crime.
The centre will give victims of crime, violence and abuse enhanced access to care and strengthen the department's protection services. A full time social worker will oversee the management of the centre and will work closely with the Social Welfare service coordinator in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district.
Proceeding starts at 10h00 at Kgakala stadium in Leeudoringstad.
