Free State Department of Education will roll-out the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign to improve education and attain better results in all 5 districts in the province. The campaign will start from Friday, 5 August to Wednesday 24 August 2011.
This follows MEC Makgoe’s provincial launch for the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign in 2009.
Tate Makgoe is again making a call to all districts and stakeholders including government, teachers, unions, learners and parents to make a commitment to a Code for Quality Education which describes the responsibilities and discipline required for providing quality education.
The Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign main objective is to sensitise the community, teachers, learners, school governing bodies and unions to abide with the non–negotiable objectives of the campaign as outlined by the President during the launch of the campaign in 2008.
The non-negotiables are:
- Teachers should be in school class, on time, teachings, with no neglect of duty and no abuse of pupil
- The children should be in class, on time, learning and be respectful of their teachers and each other, and do their homework
- Mobilise communities/ parents to monitor and support schools, teachers and learners
