Puisano live performances spectacle

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Sedibeng District Municipality will host the last and the biggest regional showcase of the Puisano Live Music performances programme on Sunday, 18 April 2010 at the Soul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Sebokeng from 11h00 till late.

The live music performance programme is aimed at promoting live music performances in communities and to develop a culture of live music appreciation as an art form, especially in townships. Gauteng is known as the home of jazz where musicians live and embrace this genre.

The event will see 14 up and coming bands amongst them upbeat, quiet storm and four seasons selected from the auditions held in 2009 where the best live acts were chosen to showcase their talent. Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Nelisiwe Moerane will deliver a keynote address.

“In the build up towards the World Cup I believe the culmination of the Puisano Live Music showcase will be instrumental in providing and creating market access for unsigned and unrecorded bands and it will also continue to strengthen the growth of the live music circuit in the province,” said MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms Nelisiwe Moerane.

Members of the public are urged to bring their camping chairs and cooler bags and witness the best live music performances in Gauteng.
