The Public Service Commission (PSC) Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) and GTZ to co-host a labour relations conference for the public service

A labour relations conference for the public service will be held from 14 to 16 March 2011 in Gauteng Province (Emperors Palace, Kempton Park), South Africa. This conference is the second of biennial conferences that will be co-hosted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) of South Africa, Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC), and GTZ.

The theme of the 2011 conference is sustaining dialogue on the integration and coordination of labour relations in the public service. The overarching aim of the conference is to harmonise labour relations in the public service through dialogue on various burning issues by presenting research papers on for example, Public Service labour law and other labour relations matters.

The conference will further create a platform for the establishment of partnerships locally, regionally and internationally and will provide an opportunity for the PSC and the collective bargaining structures of the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC), Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC), Public Health and Social Development Sectoral Bargaining Council (PHSDSBC), General Public Service Sectoral Bargaining Council (GPSSBC), and Safety and Security Sectoral Bargaining Council (SSSBC)] to debate on the latest trends pertaining to labour law and labour relations in the Public Service. Such a platform would also provide an opportunity for the interaction between and among labour relations practitioners, (both employer and labour representatives) and other stakeholders in the field of labour relations in Public Service.

Attendance of the conference is per invitation only.
