Public Protector to engage with Western Cape stakeholders

Communities of Western Cape will next week have a chance to interact with the Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela as part of her nationwide road show.

The road show is aimed at soliciting feedback from stakeholders and enhancing relations. She has already visited Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State, North West, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo.

On Monday the Public Protector will have a panel discussion with local and provincial government, traditional leaders, church leaders and non-governmental organisations and will engage with the general public during an outreach clinic on Tuesday.

Themed "Public Protector Dialogues with the Nation", the Stakeholder Consultative Forums focuses on the importance of implementing the Public Protector's remedial action.

This is for purposes of promoting accountability within state affairs and administrative justice by organs of state in respect of the state's dealings with the public.

The Public Protector will be accompanied by a team of investigators from her Cape Town office to take complaints from communities about any government's service failure or conduct.

The meeting with interest groups will take place as follows:
Date: Monday, 29 August 2011
Time: 10h00
Venue: Good Hope Sub Council 16 Chambers, 44 Wale Street, Cape Town

The outreach clinic will be conducted as follows:
Date: Monday, 30 August 2011
Time: 10h00
Venue: OR Tambo Hall, Cape Town

Journalists can confirm attendance with Salvation Mokgatlhe on 079 031 5589.
