Public Protector to engage Free State stakeholders

This week the nationwide Public Protector Stakeholder Consultative process is targeting stakeholders in the Free State.

This will see Public Protector Adv Thuli Madonsela interfacing with interest groups including representatives of provincial and local government, traditional authorities and civil society organisations in Mangaung.

She will also interact with the general public during an outreach clinic to be held in Brandfort. To date, the Public Protector has dialogued with stakeholders in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Later this week she will be on the same mission in Mafikeng, North West.

These events are part of the two-month programme launched in Pretoria early this month, aimed at soliciting feedback from stakeholders on the Public Protector's work and to enhance relations.

Themed "Public Protector Dialogues with the Nation", this roadshow focuses on the importance of implementing the Public Protector's remedial action.

This is for purposes of ensuring administrative justice by organs of state in respect of service failure and ensuring accountability in the exercise of state power and control over public resources.

The meeting with interest groups will take place as follows:

Date: Monday, 1 August 2011
Time: 09h00
Venue: Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Auditorium

The outreach clinic will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 2 August, 2011
Time: 11H00
Venue: Ipelegeng Community Hall, Brandfort

Journalists can confirm attendance with Salvation Mokgatlhe on 079 031 5589.
