Public Protector off to Angola for African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) meetings

Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela will lead a delegation to Luanda, Angola this week, where the executive committee meeting and third General Assembly of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) Association will take place.

The executive committee meeting is scheduled to take place from Thursday, 8 to 9 April 2010 while the assembly is due to be held from Saturday, 10 to 15 April 2010. The assembly will be convened under the theme: “Promoting social, economic and cultural rights: Role of the ombudsman.”

AOMA is a body that works to support and protect the independence and development of African Ombudsman Institutions. This is achieved through the promotion of information exchanges and best practices for the advancement of good governance and human rights in Africa.
