Public Protector and Minister Shiceka to visit Siyathemba

Public Protector, Advocate Thuli Madonsela, will visit Siyathemba Township in Balfour, Mpumalanga on Thursday in a move aimed at resolving service delivery problems in the area. She will be going with the Minster for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sicelo Shiceka.

This comes a week after Advocate Madonsela called on communities in Alexandra, Gauteng to turn to her office with their service delivery complaints instead of resorting to violent marches, which often leave infrastructure destroyed.

The Public Protector and the minister will meet with local councillors at Dipaleseng Local Municipality at 08h00 in bid to establish what the bottlenecks hampering service delivery are and come up with solutions.

They will also meet with stakeholders at 10h30 at same venue. A media briefing will be held shortly after the meetings and the details are as follows:

Time: 12h45
Venue: Mayoral Chamber (Dipaleseng Local Municipality)
Date: Thursday, 18 February 2010
