Public notice: correct payment of traffic infringement fines

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reminds all motorists with outstanding traffic infringement fines to ensure payments are made correctly when using EFT or ATM.

With the launch of the Automated Number Plate Recognition vehicle, many motorists are being flagged during road checks even after they have paid. This is because payments were made using the wrong reference number. On the National Traffic Contravention Management System, those fines still appear as “outstanding”.

To ensure your payment is allocated correctly:
Use the summons number printed at the top right corner of your traffic fine notice as the reference for any EFT or ATM transaction.

Do NOT use your vehicle registration number, name, or surname as the reference.

Payments made with an incorrect or missing reference will be regarded as unpaid. The infringement will remain outstanding on the system and may lead to enforcement action, including vehicle impoundment.

If you have already made a payment with the wrong reference, please visit your nearest provincial traffic station with the following:
1. Proof of payment - bank statement or receipt, and
2. The original traffic summons/fine notice.

This process will help us allocate your payment to the correct case, clear the infringement from your record, and prevent future stops or enforcement actions for non-payment.

Drive responsibly. Pay correctly. Keep your record clean.
