Public Hearings into the proposed General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill take place tomorrow, 28 March 2012 in Parliament.
The Bill which is currently under review by Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill seeks to among others; amend the National Strategic Intelligence Act, 1994, the Intelligence Services Oversight Act, 1994, and the Intelligence Services Act, 2002.
The Bill also seeks to repeal the Electronic Communications Security (Pty) Ltd Act, 2002 so as to accommodate the establishment of the State Security Agency as a body into which certain government components are absorbed.
