Provincial Job Summit 2012

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDaT) regrets to inform all delegates and members of the public that the Provincial Job Summit that was scheduled to take place from the 12-13 April 2012 at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre has been postponed until further notice.

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDaT) will be convening a Provincial Job Summit from the 12-13 April 2012 at the Mitah Seperepere convention centre under the theme: A new social pact to create decent work and eradicate poverty

The Northern Cape Job Summit should respond to the increase in job losses, slow economic growth, and lack of job opportunities and assess progress of the development targets that are spelled out in the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS). The PGDS set a target of creating 16 000 jobs annually in order to meaningfully address the unemployment challenges in the province.

As a result, this job summit is a measure of response to the global economic crisis as well as South Africa's challenges of unemployment poverty and inequalities.
