President Jacob Zuma will this weekend visit Nigeria to attend the inauguration of President-elect Goodluck Jonathan of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President will use the opportunity, on 29 May, to strengthen the warm relations between Nigeria and South Africa.
From Nigeria, President Zuma will stop over in Tripoli for a discussion with Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, on 30 May, in his capacity as a member of the African Union High Level Panel for the Resolution of the conflict in Libya.
Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is currently representing President Zuma and the country at the Africa-India Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, President Zuma has wished President Nicolas Sarkozy of the Republic of France well for the G8 Summit to be held in France this Friday, 27 May.
The President will be unable to attend the G8 forum due to pressing domestic commitments. He has sent the Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan to the summit.
