President Jacob Zuma will on Saturday, 2 June 2012, undertake a monitoring visit on Infrastructural Development in the Ngobi village, Hammanskraal, which is under the Moretele Local Municipality in the North West province. This forms part of the President's Monitoring and Evaluation of service delivery by government.
Early this year the President received an email from Ms Pine of Hammanskraal about service delivery in that area, particularly water, and this was reflected in the 2012 State of the Nation Address. President Zuma committed government to focus on infrastructural development and further undertook to ensure that provinces lacking infrastructure would receive more attention.
With regards to the North West province, President Zuma committed government to expand the roll out of water, roads, rail and electricity infrastructure, in addition to the ten priority roads that would be upgraded.
As part of this bold infrastructure plan, government is set to launch a total of 17 strategic infrastructure projects, now known as SIPS, four of which have already been launched. The infrastructure plan is intended to transform the economic landscape of South Africa, create a number of new jobs and strengthen the delivery of basic services to the people.
The plan further seeks to ensure that a national capacity is developed to assist 23 least resourced municipal districts to address all the maintenance backlogs and upgrades required in water electricity and sanitation bulk infrastructure. The road maintenance programme will enhance the service delivery capacity and thereby impact positively on the population.
The acceleration of identified investments in roads, rail, bulk water and water treatment and transmission infrastructure will result in reliable supply, meet basic social needs and facilitate the further development of mining, agricultural activities, tourism opportunities and open up beneficiation opportunities in the North West Province.
The President will, during his visit, officially open the South African Social Security Services Agency (SASSA) service point at the Cyverskuil Community Hall in Cyverskuil village.
He will then also visit the Ngobi Water Project in Ngobi village, which includes the construction of 2,5MI water reservoir and equipping 10 boreholes, electrification of boreholes and construction of pump stations. In addition, President Zuma will visit the Gaseitsiwe High School in Ngobi village to donate a science mobile laboratory as well as visit the home of Mmatsheko Pine from Hammanskraal who informed the President about water challenges in that area. President Zuma has already tasked the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs Ms Edna Molewa to address the challenge.
The President will then conclude the visit with a community meeting at the Ngobi Village open field where he will interact with community members and members of civil society to assess progress made with regards to the infrastructural development projects and programmes.

- Travel about 7km on gravel road from the boreholes to Gaseitsiwe High School
- Visit to Gaseitsiwe High School (Ngobi Village)
