President Zuma convenes B-BBEE Advisory Council meeting

President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, 1 April 2011, convene the fourth meeting of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Advisory Council at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Established in 2009 in terms of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, the Council held its inaugural meeting on 4 February 2010. The meeting will receive progress reports from its Sub-Committees of Ownership and Structuring of B-BBEE deals; Enterprise Development, Access to Finance and Procurement; Human Resource Development and Legislation, Charters, Compliance and Enforcement.

In addition to the issues already on the agenda, the Council will deliberate specifically on the role of B-BBEE in job creation.

Chaired by President Zuma, the B-BBEE Advisory Council is made up of the following members: Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel, Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant and Women, Youth, Children and People with Disabilities Minister Lulu Xingwana as well as Members Mohammed Jahed, Eltie Links, Chantyl Mulder, Sebenzile Matsebula, Andile Lungisa, Jerry Vilakazi, Dumisani Mthalane, Ellen Tshabalala, Sdumo Dlamini, Don Mkhwanazi, Matshego Ramagaga, Claudia Manning, Wendy Lucas-Bull, Tsakani Matshazi and Sandile Zungu.
