President Jacob Zuma will address an Informal Ministerial Consultation on Climate Change hosted by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
The Informal Ministerial Consultation is attended by ministers dealing with climate change from various countries around the world and forms part of a series of consultations towards South Africa’s hosting of the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference, which is to take place in Durban from 28 November to 9 December 2011.

As part of the process in the run-up to Durban, the state parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change took a decision in Cancun, Mexico, in 2010 to confer upon the incoming President of the Durban conference, Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, a mandate to “undertake inclusive and transparent consultations in order to facilitate the work towards the success” of the conference in Durban.
