President sends Ministerial Delegation to Qatar

President Jacob Zuma is sending a high level Ministerial delegation to Doha, Qatar to discuss partnerships on infrastructure.

 
The President visited the State of Qatar on 23-24 January 2012 and held discussions with His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. They agreed to intensify cooperation in infrastructure development and decided that discussions between the two sides should begin without delay.
 
The delegation to Qatar is to be led by the Mr Gugile Nkwinti the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform who chairs the economic cluster as well as the Management Committee of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordination Commission.
 
The delegation is as follows:

  • Economic Development, Minister Ebrahim Patel
  • Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa
  • Public Enterprises Minister,  Mr Malusi Gigaba
  • Energy Minister, Ms Dipuo Peters
  • Transport Minister, Mr Sbu Ndebele
  • Finance Deputy Minister, Mr Nhlanhla Nene
  • Trade and Industry Deputy Minister, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe
  • International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister, Ebrahim Ebrahim
The delegation departs tomorrow on the 11th of February.
 
The President chairs the Presidential Infrastructure Coordination Commission which brings together economic and infrastructure Ministers, Premiers and Metro Mayors.
 
The Commission will oversee the massive infrastructure investment programme that was unveiled in the State of the Nation Address last night. Government will be seeking partnerships for the infrastructure programme domestically and also from various regions including the Middle East.
