President Jacob Zuma will address the National Teaching Awards ceremony in Pretoria on Thursday 29 October 2009.
The awards recognise and promote excellence in teaching performance and encourage best practice in schools.
President Zuma outlined the vision for education in the State of the Nation address in June 2009. Earlier this year the President met more than 1 500 school principals where he outlined the non-negotiables for education, focusing primarily on ensuring quality teaching and learning in schools.
