After visiting Sweetwaters in Southern Johannesburg in May, President Jacob Zuma was appalled at the living conditions of the residents and committed to taking immediate action to improve living conditions in the area.
Today, he will return to the community accompanied by Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and MEC for Local Government and Housing in the province Kgaogelo Lekgoro. The President, Premier and the MEC will participate in a sod turning ceremony of a housing development in the area.

They will also hand over houses built by the African Musicians Against HIV and AIDS (AMAHA). The visit by the politicians will culminate in a public meeting where they will address the community on the challenges and plans for the area.
