Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will on Saturday, 22 September 2012, join President Jacob Zuma in celebrating the centenary of the icon Alexandra Township, north of Johannesburg.
Well-known for the 1957 massive Alexandra Bus Boycott, among other things, Alexandra is one of South Africa's oldest townships and has been home to some of the country's prominent leaders, including Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe and former President Nelson Mandela.
