The president of the Republic, Mr Jacob Zuma will launch Nelson Mandela Legacy Bridge and River Valley catalytic projects at Ludondolo village in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday 11 July 2012.
The 140 metre Nelson Mandela Legacy Bridge and the ten kilometre tarred road are being done in partnership by Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works and the Department of Transport. This initiative involves other government departments and the private sector.
The river valley catalytic project is a concept whereby the department of Rural Development and Land Reform is trying to develop land around the river banks across the country with full infrastructure. The building of the bridge and the road are in line with the commitment made by the president, during the State of the Nation Address regarding infrastructure development in the country.
Other two projects that will be visited during the day is the brick making plant that is run by the youth and the pack house which is part of the river valley catalytic programme.
