President Jacob Zuma to attend Guinea Conakry Presidential inauguration ceremony

President of the Republic of South Africa His Excellency Jacob Zuma supported by Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana Mashabane, will attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Professor Alpa Condé of the Republic of Guinea Conakry on Tuesday, 21 December 2010.

Professor Alpha Condé won the run-off in the presidential elections which took place on 7 November 2010 and subsequently the Electoral Commission (CENI) released the results on 15 November 2010 declaring Professor Alpha Condé the winner by 52,52 percent.

President Zuma and Minister Nkoana–Mashabane’s attendance is within the context of consolidating and strengthening the African Agenda a thrust focus of South Africa’s foreign policy.

In this regard, President Zuma is expected to convey the congratulations of the government and people of South Africa and on his own behalf to Professor Alpa Condé on his democratic election as President of Guinea Conakry.
