President Jacob Zuma to attend the AU Peace and Security Council meeting in Ethiopia

President Jacob Zuma is to travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia tomorrow, 8 March, to attend a meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC), to which the African Union High‐Level Panel for the Resolution of the Crisis in Côte d'Ivoire has to present a report.

The meetings will take place from 9 to 10 March. The High‐Level Panel was established by the Peace and Security Council at the Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa on 28 January 2011.

The AU PSC meeting has necessitated the postponement of the President's Business Summit on Job Creation, from 8 March to 10 March. President Zuma made an undertaking in the State of the Nation Address to meet with Business to discuss the focus on job creation this year.

The AU High-Level Panel represents the five Regions of the Continent and is composed of the leaders of Burkina Faso (West Africa), Chad (Central Africa), Mauritania (North Africa), South Africa (Southern Africa), and Tanzania (East Africa).

The Panel was directed to conclude its work by the end of February and report back to the AU Peace and Security Council.
