President Jacob Zuma to address meeting of African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Focal Points

The President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma will deliver a keynote address at a meeting of African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Focal Points taking place 13 to 14 April 2012 in Durban.

APRM Focal Points are ministers or high-level country officials who report directly to their respective Heads of State or Government. The APRM Focal Points are appointed soon after a country accedes to the peer review mechanism and are subsequently responsible for managing the process, updating the Heads of State or Government on the national progress, facilitating the self-assessment process and liaising the African Peer Review (APR) Panel throughout the exercise.

Hosted by the Minister for Public Service and Administration, Mr Roy Padayachie in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat, the meeting will discuss the operationalisation of the newly adopted Operating Procedures for the APRM and consider the Revised Country Self-Assessment Questionnaire for the mechanism.

Dignitaries to attend the meeting include KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Dr Zweli Mkhize and African Ministers from 36 countries.
