Premier's Inter-Governmental Forum Meeting

Premier of Limpopo, Mr Cassel Mathale will lead the extended provincial Inter-Governmental Forum (IGR) where Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Heads of Departments (HODs), Executive and Local Mayors will meet to discuss and assess the overall performance of the government, with a particular emphasis on the provision of basic services to communities and the implementation of the Municipal Turn Around Strategy.

The one-day IGR is expected to achieve the following key objectives to:

  • receive a detailed report on the state of municipalities in the province
  • analyse the progress made by the Department of Water and Environmental Affairs on water provisioning and the intervention thereof in Nandoni, Nwamitwa and Mokolo dams as well as disaster funding for Mopani and Vhembe districts
  • receive a consolidated report on planned projects for 2011/12 financial year.

The Auditor-General will also present a progress report made in the implementation of key control measures to curb fruitless and wasteful expenditure in state institutions.

Other crucial factors to be considered include Eskom’s presentation on the planned electrification programmes for 2011/12 financial year in the province and an update from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on the 2011 Local Government Elections.

Members of the media are invited to cover the opening and closing address by the Premier.
