On Saturday, 21 July 2012, Premier Helen Zille will attend a Safety Summit to be hosted by Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, in Nyanga.
Representatives from the criminal justice system (Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, National Prosecuting Authority, South African Police Service), Nyanga Community Policing Forum (CPF), community organisations, as well as local and provincial government will be present.
The Safety Summit will provide an important opportunity for the community of Nyanga to raise concerns regarding the criminal justice system. It will also provide an opportunity to workshop ways in which to make the community safer, in line with the Western Cape Government's "whole-of-society" approach to increasing safety.
