As part of celebrating Food Safety & Security Month, North West Premier Thandi Modise is to launch the Kgora Farmer Training Centre at Ramatlabama outside Mahikeng at 9h00 this morning.
The implementation “learning by doing” model adopted from Netherlands will assist farmers to not only acquire knowledge about the theory of farming, but will also become skilled in subsistence food production practices.
The training centre has been renewed to serve as a world class, accredited centre that should proviide training and capacity for subsistence and small holder farmers. This will include training on household food security, primary production and agro processing/value adding, to reduce poverty, create decent employment and to improve rural livelihoods as a broad government agenda, but will also become skilled in sustainable food production practices theory of farming, but will also become skilled in sustainable food production practices theory of farming, but will also become skilled in sustainable food production practices.

Premier Modise had challenged her administration to look at whether average facilities of agricultural learning and training had to be created or the contention and intention be that of an agricultural hub, with the view to be the best in the country when she announced the revamp of agriculture training institutions in Taung, Potchefstroom and the Kgora Farmer Training Centre during her State of the Province Address delivered earlier in February this year.
