North West Premier Maureen Modiselle will host members of the media to promote an open interaction between the provincial government and the media for the purpose of improving the working relations between government and the media.
The media open day will be held as follows:
Venue: Omaramba Resort, Buffelspoort (outside Rustenburg)
Date: 18 March 2010
Time: 12h00
The media open day will allow media practitioners with an opportunity to be familiar with the provincial government’s Programme of Action for the 2010/2011 financial year.
Furthermore, this session will among others seek to:
* Assist the provincial government to strengthen its existing working relations with the media
* Present the Office of the Premier to the media as a professional partner in the advancement of a better life for all through information sharing as well as clarify the role of the Office of the Premier in the provincial government and its strategic objectives
* Show appreciation for the support given by the media in advancing the purpose and functions of the Office of the Premier.
The Office of the Premier would also like to demonstrate its support for ensuring that the communication systems allow for an interactive session between government and the broader communities with the media as the bridging agency, while encouraging an environment that is multi-lingual and respectful of the various language audiences found within the North West province.
The Key message for the day is: “Working together to inform the North West public and highlight the view that all citizens have a right to information”.
The day will also offer members of the media an opportunity to interact with one another at the same venue with the premier of the province, Members of the Executive Council, the director-general, the executive technical team and the new provincial head of communication as well as the media relations team of the Office of the premier.
