The Public Private Partnership (PPP) for Community Safety and Development between the North West Provincial Government and Anglo Platinum is to be strengthened with yet another delivery milestone with the formal launch of the School and Community Safety Awareness Campaign. The programme is to be launched at 10am by North West Premier Maureen Modiselle at the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Friday, 19 March 2010.
The objective of the campaign is to empower the communities within the operational proximity of Anglo Platinum to improve school and community safety as a contribution to road accidents, crime prevention and raising safety awareness in general.
Premier Maureen Modiselle will deliver the keynote address while MECs Yawa (Public Safety) and Rev Tselapedi (Education) will together with the CEO of Anglo Platinum sign a pledge to promote and sustain the initiative.
Stakeholders involved in the initiative are the North West Departments of Public Safety, Education, Health and Social Development and the South Africa Police Service.
The partnership funded by Anglo Platinum and implemented through Bembani includes non-governmental organizations such as Love Life, NICRO and the local traffic law enforcement of the Rustenburg Local municipality, Bojanala Platinum District Municipality.
