Communities in Bojanala Platinum District Municipality have been afforded a platform to highlight their concerns, grievances and to advice government on its work during their engagement with North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise and members of her Executive Council on Saturday.
The Exco public participation programme that Premier Modise leads will be hosted by Madibeng Local Municipality at Oukasie Sports Ground outside Brits.
The interactive programme which commences as from 9h00 provides an opportunity for government to communicate its Programme of Action and progress being made coincides with the celebration of 100 years of Oukasie, the Provincial Launch of Heritage and Tourism Month.
“The centenary celebration of one of our oldest townships in our province that resisted forced removal during the dark days of apartheid presents us with an opportunity to evaluate progress we have made with regard to changing the lives of our people and to renew our commitment to work together with them to create sustainable communities,” says Premier Modise.
The message of support for the launch of Tourism month will be delivered by Deputy Minister of Tourism Tokozile Xasa.
The Public Participation programme formerly known as Imbizo is a forum for enhancing dialogue and interaction between government and the people promotes participation of the public in the programmes to improve their lives.
Artists to entertain at the event include Gospel Singer Winnie Mashaba, Senzo Ncobo from Rhythm City, Troublemakers, Rhythmic Elements, and emerging local artists.
Free busses to transport members of the public to the event are coordinated by councillors and municipalities within the jurisdiction of the District Municipality.
