Premier to lead a delegation to Uruguay

The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Hazel Jenkins is leading a delegation to Uruguay from 19 March to return on 22 March 2010, with the express purpose to showcase the Northern Cape province in particular and the country in general, to the many Uruguayan supporters who will be visiting the Northern Cape for the global 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament.

As we are all aware, the Uruguay National Football Association has chosen the City of Kimberley as its base Camp for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and has thus invited the province to market itself to the thousands of soccer enthusiasts. This visit will also further strengthen the fraternal relations between both Uruguay and South Africa.

The delegation is comprised of Premier Hazel Jenkins, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Pauline Williams, MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison Patrick Mabilo, MEC for Roads and Public Works Dawid Rooi and Executive Mayor of Frances Baard district municipality Achmat Florence.

The MEC for Finance, Economic Affairs and Tourism Mr John Block is sworn in as Acting Premier for the duration of the absence of the premier.
