Eastern Cape Premier Ms Noxolo Kiviet will tomorrow, 25 March 2011, lead a delegation of five people from the provincial government to attend the India Africa Project Partnership Conclave (Congress). The delegations includes amongst others, Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Ms Zoleka Capa, and ELIDZ CEO Mr Simphiwe Kondlo. Premier Kiviet has been invited to attend the conclave which will take place from 27 to 29 March in New Delhi by the Durban-based Consul General of India.
"We visit with aim to participate in the conclave and present a project that will attract potential investors. We have requested the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) to indentify a project that needs funding or investment partners. Such funding or investment will bode well for our goal of creating decent work in our province,” said Premier Kiviet.
From 30 March to 2 April, Premier Kiviet will join the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Ms Elizabeth Thabethe and her 28-member delegation in Mumbai for business meetings.
The conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership has been taking place since 2005 and is organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in cooperation with the Export Import Bank of India. The focus of the Conclave is to provide a platform for India-Africa business interaction and build strong bilateral partnerships. Ministers, CEOs and senior decision makers in industry will attend the Conclave and discuss economic and developmental issues.
Premier Kiviet has since appointed Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism MEC Mcebisi Jonas to be the Acting Premier until she returns on 3 April 2011.
