Premier Kiviet to launch Provincial Career Expo

As part of the contribution towards the Goal 7 of the Provincial Skills Development Strategy and Goal 8 of the National Skills Development Strategy, Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet will officially open the Provincial Rural Career Expo at Ndamase Senior Secondary School on Thursday, 26 July 2012 in Libode.

The career expo will provide comprehensive information and support to the youth of the province to guide their career choices and learning paths.

Organisations such as National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), VolksWagen of South Africa, all sector education and training authorities (SETAs), further education and training colleges and universities to mention a few, will provide a wide range of enrichment sessions with learners.

Students will be coached on how to write CVs, presentations on accessing NSFAS funding and bursaries from different stakeholders. Moreover, organisations will provide information and counselling on career paths, options for further study, funding to the matric students and unemployed youth.

About 1 500 youth are expected to attend the career expo. The lessons learnt from these events will guide planning for the 2013 expanded programme to ensure all districts have access to such events.
